Chocolate Bread (Challah) Pudding

  • 12 oz Challah (Cubed)
  • 1½ cup Chocolate Chips
  • 4 Eggs (Beaten)
  • 3 cups Half & Half or Cream
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
  • ¾ tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbl Corn Starch
  • ⅓ cup Half & Half or Cream
  • ¼ cup Water
  • 2 Tbl Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 Tbl Butter
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  1. Combine bread cubes and chocolate chips and place in greased 9x13 pan. Combine eggs, 3 cups cream, 1 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and dash of salt. Pour over bread and press lightly to moisten bread completely. Sprinkle with nuts.
  2. Bake at 350F for 40-45 minutes (Until Set)
  3. SAUCE: In small, heavy saucepan, combine ½ cup brown sugar and cornstarch; stir in ⅓ cup cream, water, and corn syrup. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly (may look curdled.) Cook and stir 2 more minutes. Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla. Pour over hot pudding.
  4. Let stand 30 minutes.
